Student Volunteer Code of Conduct

I agree to follow the Rae of Hope Volunteers Student Code of Conduct while I am volunteering with, or representing, Rae of Hope Volunteers.

1. I will always conduct myself in a professional and respectful manner as a representative of Rae of Hope Volunteers — on-site, off-site, and on any social media I use (Instagram, TikTok, Snapchat, Facebook, or anywhere else).
2. I will treat every other volunteer, supervisor, partner organization, staff member, and member of the public with courtesy and respect, regardless of how a situation is going.
3. I will welcome and include every fellow volunteer. I will not discriminate against, or treat anyone differently because of, their race, color, national origin, religion, sex, age, disability, or any other characteristic.
4. I will follow my on-site supervisor's instructions at all times. If I disagree with something, I will raise it calmly with my supervisor afterward, not in the moment.
5. I will dress appropriately for the activity, wearing clothing and shoes I can safely work in, with nothing offensive printed or displayed on it.
6. I will be on time for every event, and I will tell my supervisor first if I need to leave early or step away.
7. I will give at least 24 hours' notice if I cannot attend an event I signed up for, except in a genuine emergency, so my spot can go to someone on the waitlist. I understand that two no-shows will end my relationship with Rae of Hope.
8. I will limit my phone and device use during events to checking in, taking approved photos, or handling an emergency.
9. I will immediately remove myself from, and report, any situation that could compromise my own safety or Rae of Hope's reputation.
10. I will speak up right away and tell my supervisor about any injury, unsafe situation, or anything that makes me uncomfortable.
11. I will not possess or consume alcohol, drugs, or any illegal substance, and will not possess a weapon, at any Rae of Hope event.
12. I will not engage in any illegal, inappropriate, or unsafe behavior while representing Rae of Hope.
13. I will maintain the highest standards of honesty. I will not gossip about or spread rumors regarding other volunteers, supervisors, or Rae of Hope, and I will have the courage to speak up when something isn't right.
14. Whenever I am identifiable as a Rae of Hope volunteer — wearing our gear, tagged in a post about one of our events, or telling someone I volunteer with Rae of Hope — I will keep what I post factual and positive, and will not connect complaints, arguments, or political opinions to Rae of Hope.
15. I will not post or speak as if I am officially representing Rae of Hope — including responding to news, controversy, or criticism — without checking with a coordinator or board member first.
16. If someone comments, messages me, or leaves a review about Rae of Hope, I will not respond myself. I will tell a coordinator so it's handled the right way.
17. I will never post an identifiable photo or video of another volunteer — especially a minor — without their and their parent's permission, even if we were at the same event together.
18. I understand Rae of Hope does not yet have a formal photo-consent process for every event, so I will not post identifiable photos of other volunteers at all, unless I'm told otherwise.
19. I understand that my own public posts and profiles reflect on the trust families place in Rae of Hope. I will not post or appear in content showing illegal activity, weapons, or threatening behavior; bullying or harassment of anyone; profanity; or nudity or sexual content — whether or not it's connected to Rae of Hope.
20. I will take care of any Rae of Hope materials, gear, or equipment provided to me, and understand I may be asked to help replace anything lost or damaged through carelessness.
21. I am responsible for reporting any violation of this Code of Conduct — by myself or by a fellow volunteer — to a coordinator.
22. In any situation not specifically covered by this Code of Conduct, I will use my best judgment, and above all, act in a way that reflects positively on Rae of Hope Volunteers.

I understand that if I do not comply with this Code of Conduct, most issues will begin with a warning — a conversation with my supervisor or a coordinator, with my parent/guardian informed of what happened. I understand that serious issues, including anything involving safety, weapons, drugs or alcohol, harassment, discrimination, or illegal activity, as well as a second no-show, can result in my immediate removal from Rae of Hope with no warning first, and that removal is not necessarily permanent — a coordinator or board member decides, based on the situation.

THIS MUST BE SIGNED BY BOTH THE STUDENT AND A PARENT/GUARDIAN BEFORE VOLUNTEERING WITH RAE OF HOPE.
